Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has acknowledged that his team will now be depending on a crisis at championship rivals Manchester City and Arsenal following his team’s costly 2-0 loss to Everton on the road in the Merseyside derby.
With just four games remaining, Everton is well on their way to safety, sitting eight points clear of the drop zone after suffering their first home loss to the Reds in fourteen years. Liverpool has now fallen behind in the fight for the title as a result of Sean Dyche’s team, who were exceptionally well-drilled at the back.

Looking back on a disappointing performance for his team, Klopp asserted that Liverpool played the match to Everton’s advantages rather than their own. “I can only apologize to the people for today,” he clarified. It is really disheartening. Everton scored two goals from set pieces while we played the game they wanted. Although we could have performed better, we didn’t. According to Manchester world.
“No good thoughts at all. Very disappointed and frustrated. It was not good enough. It was not the most inspired performance of all time, I really feel for the people. We never lost here (it was Everton’s first Goodison derby win in almost 14 years) and it feels really different. I really apologise for that.”
Elsewhere, the Reds will keep a close eye on tonight’s game between champions Manchester City and Brighton along with their trip to strugglers Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Arsenal, fresh from their emphatic 5-0 win over Chelsea, will once again face London opposition as they take on arch-rivals Tottenham on Sunday.
