Jurgen Klopp Reacts To Mohamed Salah’s Criticism Of Liverpool’s ‘Failed’ Season

Jurgen Klopp claims he understands Mohamed Salah’s disappointment at Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, but feels there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful about next season.

Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-1 on Thursday evening to seal a top-four finish in the Premier League with one game remaining, while Newcastle United, Arsenal, and newly crowned champions Manchester City have claimed the three other Champions League spots for the coming season.

When asked about Salah’s remarks, Klopp remarked on Friday, ‘I’m just a little scared about the headlines you’ll create, to be honest. So please do me a favor and give it your all.

‘Of course, in a moment when you know you’re not qualified for the Champions League any longer, even when I knew after the last game they needed one point, for me it was clear they’d get that point, so I drew kind of a line underneath it just because I’m a very optimistic person but in these moments I couldn’t see it.

‘If it had happened, we would’ve gone for it, it’s how we would’ve prepared the week, so if they had lost last night, sure, then it’s clear that we don’t have to alter the mood again, I said at the beginning of the week, ‘that’s it,’ then in the midst of the week I say, ‘oh, all of a sudden their is a chance.

It’s absolutely natural; in the world of social media, so many horrible things happen all the time, but I don’t believe this was one of them. I believe it was a normal description of his emotions.
