After being accused of xenophobia towards Manchester City’s owners in the divisive wake of his team’s 1-0 victory against the champions at Anfield, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated he will take legal actions.
Last Friday, Klopp made remarks regarding the champions’ spending prowess in comparison to rival teams. However, he said on Wednesday that his remarks were “misunderstood.”

Meanwhile, the FA charged Klopp with misconduct yesterday after he was sent off for insulting an assistant referee during the intense match on Sunday.
Furthermore, Merseyside Police are looking into allegations that City’s team bus was damaged. City manager Pep Guardiola also alleged that coins were thrown at him by home fans.
What Did Klopp Say?
Asked specifically about reports alleging City sources had suggested his pre-match remarks amounted to xenophobia, Klopp said: “I don’t feel it at all.
“I know myself. And you cannot hit with something which is miles away from my personality. If I was – I cannot remember the word, wow! – like this I would hate it.
“I would hate myself for being like this. I have said a lot of times things that were a little bit open for misunderstanding.

“I know that. It was not intentional, just sometimes you say things and you think, ‘Oh my God! It can be interpreted like this?’ But this is not one of these moments. Absolutely.”
Klopp irked City and Newcastle United by suggesting they – alongside Paris St-Germain – are among the three clubs who “can do what they want financially”.
