Former AC Milan striker George Weah has revealed that Juventus are his favourite team and stated that he would have loved to have played for the club.
Weah enjoyed a decorated career that encompassed spells at clubs such as Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Chelsea, but disclosed that he regrets not playing for Juventus.
Speaking to L’Equipe, Weah said: “Juventus have been my favourite team since I was a child.
“In Liberia I used to play in a Juventus shirt. It was because of Michel Platini, who made me fall in love with those colours.
“When I then met him I couldn’t stop smiling.
“I have Juve in my blood. I really wanted to play for them but I never managed to do it.
“If I could have chosen, I would have chosen Juve and not PSG after my time at Monaco.”
A talented striker in his day, Weah won trophies in France, Italy and England, while he won the Ballon d’Or in 1995 following an excellent season with PSG.
It is clear to see why Weah would have wanted to join Juventus, with the club having a rich history.
The Old Lady remain dominant and are closing in on clinching yet another Serie A title this season – they are seven points clear of their closest challengers Roma.
Juventus are also hopeful of winning the Champions League this campaign and host Monaco in their semi-final tonight, boasting a 2-0 lead from the first leg.
