Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has suggested that the the Old Lady are interested in Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez, but they are unlikely to make an approach for Germany international Julian Draxler.
Rodriguez is out of favour at Real Madrid and now their transfer ban has been shortened, they are keen to make room in their squad for new players; while Draxler is rumoured to have played his last game for Wolfsburg.
Juve are hoping to collect their sixth consecutive Serie A title this season and a player like the Colombian would add some more flair to their squad.
When asked about potentially signing Rodriguez, Marotta told La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Goal): “It depends on what we do in the transfer market. We have to respect the balance sheet, but Juve want to position themselves among the best clubs in the world and this is and always will be our ambitious objective.
“Four or five years ago, we certainly could not have allowed ourselves to spend the figures we spent on players such as [Gonzalo] Higuain or [Miralem] Pjanic, but now we can.
“Our potential has grown a great deal thanks to the excellent job done by president Andrea Agnelli which means we can afford major investments in the sporting area. And we certainly want to continue travelling down this road.”
The 25-year-old has played just eight times in the league under Zinedine Zidane and is keen to get more first-team action.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are interested in signing Rodriguez and the 25-year-old is keen on joining the Blues.
Meanwhile, the Mirror reported earlier in the week that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on Rodriguez replacing the outgoing Oscar at Chelsea.
