The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) is reportedly investigating Juventus midfielder, Nicolo Fagioli over a sports betting scandal.
The 22-year-old, who has been capped once by the Italian national team and was chosen as the best under-23 player in Serie A last season, was the subject of an investigation that the FIGC began in August.
In addition, a report from an Italian news publication AFP as cited by First Post stated that the prosecutor’s office in Turin has launched an investigation.
It is suspected that Fagioli bets on illegitimate websites with multiple names.
He may be subject to a three-year suspension and a punishment of 25,000 euros if found to have violated the FIGC’s sports justice code. The code which forbids professional footballers from placing bets on football games.
Juventus declined to respond when AFP reached out to them.
Fagioli has made six appearances for Juventus, who are now third in the Serie A summit, this season.
This year, the club have struggled with off-field scandals. The Turin-based club was found guilty of financial irregularities and false accounting in their previous transfer dealings.
They were punished with a 15-point deduction as a result of soiling their hands. UEFA also slammed them with one season suspension from all European competitions.

With this, they were unable to take part in the UEFA Europa Conference League this season. Even though they finished in the 7th position which was enough to qualify them to the competition.
France international, Paul Pogba has also been suspended since September 11 after testing positive for doping. A four-year suspension is a possibility.
