N’Golo Kante has given the clearest indication yet he will stay with Chelsea, saying he wants to keep having “great seasons” with the club. France international Kante burst onto the Premier League scene when leading Leicester City to the title in the 2015/16 campaign and he was snapped up by Chelsea in the summer of 2016, making the £32million switch from King Power Stadium to Stamford Bridge.
Since completing his move to south-west London, the 28-year-old, under the guidance of Antonio Conte, won the 2016/17 PL title before finishing runner-up in the FA Cup that season.
In the 2017/18 season, the midfielder, who was again a regular under Maurizio Sarri, played a pivotal role as the Blues defeated Arsenal in the Europa League final to qualify for the Champions League.
Chelsea appointed Frank Lampard in the summer but his arrival has not changed Kante’s position in the team, with the Frenchman one of the first names on the team sheet when fit.
The Paris-born star has been hampered slightly by injuries this season, limiting him to seven appearances in all competitions, but he recently returned to full fitness to help the Blues beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on Saturday.
Kante continues to be linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but, when asked whether he will be at Chelsea next season, he told Telefoot: “Of course. Today I am with Chelsea until 2023. So, in my head, I hope to continue to have great seasons with Chelsea until 2023.”
Interestingly, the midfield was also asked whether he could see himself playing abroad and he responded “no, not really”.
Chelsea, who are sitting third in the Premier League standings, return to action on November 23 when they make the trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.
The Citizens, who are aiming to become the first team since Manchester United in 2009 to win the title three years in a row, slipped down to fourth place and are now nine points behind Liverpool in the title race after Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Anfield.
