Franck Kessie has issued a farewell message to Milan fans following the club’s Serie A title victory, as he prepares to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
This season, the Ivory Coast international has been a significant role for the Scudetto holders in their bid to become Italian champions, and he assisted in a dramatic final-day victory over Sassuolo.
Now, ahead of what is likely to be a transition to Camp Nou when his tenure at San Siro expires, he has taken to social media to say an emotional goodbye to supporters.
What Did Kessie Have To Say About His Exit?
“After five years, I couldn’t imagine a greater way to cap off this incredible journey!” Kessie posted a video montage of his experience at the club on Instagram, in both Italian and French.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind feeling: we’re Italy’s champions! [I’m] honored to have worn this magnificent jersey and to have shared this journey with such wonderful people! Thank you very much for everything! Thank you all very much!”
Will He Join Barcelona?
Though no official agreement has been reached, it appears that Kessie will join Barcelona after his Milan contract expires.
The Blaugrana have been linked with a bid for him for much of the season, and that speculation has only increased after the Ivory Coast international turned down a San Siro extension.
He appears to be one of several new faces at Camp Nou this summer, as Xavi aims to overhaul his squad from the Ronald Koeman era he inherited last season.
