Kieran Tierney Open To Arsenal Exit As Newcastle Plot Transfer

Tierney is reportedly looking to leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window amid interest Newcastle United.

The left-back decided to leave his boyhood club Celtic in August 2019 for a new challenge south of the border.

Tierney has made 89 Premier League starts and 23 substitute appearances since joining the club for £25m from Glasgow giants.

Despite contributing five goals and 13 assists in those games, the 25-year-old is currently simply a backup to Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Tierney has made nine starts in cup competitions during 2022-23, but has only played 462 minutes in the Premier League, including 12 substitute appearances.

According to The Mirror, the Scottish international is becoming increasingly unhappy with his situation at the Emirates Stadium.

Tierney is reportedly open to leaving the North Londoners regardless of whether they win the Premier League or qualify for the Champions League.

Arsenal are in a great position to keep him due to a contract that runs until 2026, but Mikel Arteta is in a situation where he has a natural alternative for Tierney.

Nuno Tavares is flourishing on loan at Marseille and could realistically take over as Zinchenko’s backup if Arsenal decides to sell Tierney.

Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring the situation in order to make a bid for a player who may welcome the opportunity to return to his roots.

Although no transfer fee is mentioned, Arsenal would most certainly want to recover the £25m fee they paid for Tierney almost four years ago.

It was also reported around the end of January that Juventus was interested in Tierney as they looked for methods to enhance their squad.
