Sweden’s Marcus Kinhult says he will take the positives from losing to Tommy Fleetwood in a play-off at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. The 23-year-old did enough to keep up with Fleetwood, with the Englishman enjoying a flying finish to his final 18 holes. Fleetwood started Sunday six shots off the lead, but his round of 65 saw him surge up the leaderboard. Kinhult’s 68 forced a play-off, but his bogey on the first extra hole handed the Englishman his first victory for 22 months. Kinhult has now finished in the top 20 in his last three events and he continues to improve, having finished 70th at the Nedbank in 2018. He climbs into the top 10 from 35th in the Race to Dubai standings, but the youngster says he can continue to improve. “I am proud, I did all I could and shot a good score today,” Kinhult told the European Tour website. “I got into the play-off but then made a silly bogey, but I am happy with the week. “Losing is not always fun, but Tommy deserved it, he is a great champion. “I had not really thought about the Race to Dubai, we were 35th going into this week, but it secures a few things going into next year. “It is quite an improvement. Hopefully, I can come back next year and do better. Especially last year finishing last, I am learning every time I come here.”
