Klopp: Award Us Points If Man United Protests Disrupts Game

Liverpool’s match against Manchester United at Old Trafford may be postponed due to crowd protests and Jurgen Klopp has stated that Liverpool should receive the points if that happens be the case.

Red Devils supporters are reportedly preparing new demonstrations against the club’s Glazer ownership.

The match on August 22 is expected to be the scene of a large-scale fan walkout as they attempt to capitalize on recent developments.

Fans invaded the stadium and even gained access to the Old Trafford field in May 2021. They also made an attempt to reach the locker rooms.

This was in protest over the Glazer’s involvement in the creation of the failed European Super League.

Liverpool eventually prevailed 4-2, which helped them qualify for the Champions League the following season.

What Did Klopp Really Say?

At his Friday morning press conference ahead of the game, Klopp hoped that the situation won’t disturb the game.

“I really hope it will not happen, but if it happens, I think we should get the points.

“We have nothing to do with the situation. If that happens and the supporters want the game to be not happening then we can’t just rearrange the game then fit it in somewhere in anyway in an incredibly busy schedule.

“I don’t think and I really hope this will not happen. I have no idea what could happen, I don’t think about it.

“People tell us we are fine so we go there and play the game, hopefully, and go home. In a situation like this always the other team should get the points because they have nothing to do with it.”
