Jurgen Klopp has reportedly claimed that his switch to Liverpool was the second best decision of his life – after marrying his wife.
The 56-year-old German has decided to end his time at Anfield, leaving at the end of the current campaign after nearly nine years of service. Only a few months after leaving Borussia Dortmund, Klopp moved to Liverpool in October 2015, where he had tremendous success.
He forged a close relationship with the city’s supporters and helped the club end their 30-year wait for a top flight title in addition to delivering the Champions League.
According to The Mirror, Klopp maintains that moving to Merseyside was only his second best decision.
He said: “Aside from marrying Ulla, joining Liverpool was the best decision of my life.”
Since their first encounter, when he was the manager of Mainz and Ulla was a waitress at his favorite local bar, she has been Klopp’s biggest ally.
After getting married in 2005, she moved with him to Dortmund and Liverpool. She has a significant impact on his life; earlier in his career, she discouraged him from moving to England.

When he signed his last Reds contract he said: “What is very important and is probably the most important – because I could not work against that and wouldn’t want to work against it – is that my family.
“In this case especially Ulla, she just loves it here. The most important contract in my life I signed is the one with Ulla.”
