Klopp confident Liverpool can do some damage against Chelsea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes games against Chelsea are always special and is confident his side will cause the Blues trouble on Friday night.

The Reds have started the Premier League season in strong fashion and have taken seven points from their opening four league games, with a 2-0 defeat at Burnley last month the only low point.

Klopp’s side, however, will have their work cut out against an unbeaten Antonio Conte side on Friday night, as Chelsea continue to fire on all cylinders in the top-flight.

The Blues may have been held to a 2-2 draw at Swansea City last week, but there is plenty of quality in the ranks of Conte’s side for them to bounce back in fine fashion.

Klopp will take some confident from the fact he got the better of Jose Mourinho last season at Stamford Bridge when the 53-year-old was in charge of Chelsea, whilst he drew 1-1 with the latter’s successor, Guus Hiddink, at Anfield in May.

“Last season was not a Chelsea season but now they are back on track so we must be ready for a real challenge,” Klopp said at his press conference. “They attack well and defend strong, but we are quite confident we can do something there.

“Games against Chelsea are a special thing and always will be in the Premier League.

“They are a good side. I saw the 90 minutes versus Swansea and they could have won that game. They’re a physically strong side. They are the champions of two years ago.”

A win for Liverpool would certainly send out a strong message to the rest of the Premier League and also push Klopp’s side up to 10 points – level with Everton and the Blues themselves in second place.
