Jurgen Klopp believes “a lot” of Premier League teams want Liverpool to beat Chelsea on Tuesday night.
Chelsea boast an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table and are threatening to pull away from their rivals in the title race.
Antonio Conte’s side have lost just three games this season and will need to drop a considerable amount of points during the second half of the campaign if they are to be knocked off their perch.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have endured a disappointing January and are without a win in their last three top-flight fixtures.
The Merseysiders have dropped to fourth place as a result of their indifferent form and Klopp believes his players will have additional support in tomorrow’s game at Anfield.
When asked what victory over Chelsea would mean for Liverpool, Klopp said: “Three points and probably – I’m not sure – but I think a lot of teams in the league would [be] on our side and want us to win.
“That maybe happens not too often.”
Defeat for Liverpool, who were knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend, could see Klopp’s side drop out of the top four for the first time since mid September.
But the German coach is adamant previous form will count for little when his side take on the Premier League pacesetters and attempt to get their season back on track.
“I know what will happen after the game if we lose and it’s the fourth game in a row – it can always be negative.
“But, on the other side, even [if] we would have won the last 10 games in a row, it would not make it more likely to beat Chelsea.
“We have no responsibility for Chelsea’s nearly perfect season; we beat them
, the rest we have no influence on,” he added.
