Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp lauded Curtis Jones and Jordan Henderson for their key roles in setting Liverpool for an outstanding victory over Leeds United at Elland Road.
The gaffer also heaped praise on Diogo Jota, who finally ended his goal drought which spanned for more than a year against the Whites.
In the Reds’ 6-1 demolition of Leeds United at Elland Road on Monday night, Jota scored twice. The dynamic forward hadn’t scored since a 2-2 tie at Manchester City on April 10, 2022.
However his goal drought has been mostly attributed to hamstring injuries at the start of this season. And a devastating calf injury last October that kept him out for four months.
After a challenging start against Leeds, Jota scored twice in the second half. This came after he helped Mo Salah score Liverpool’s second goal.
What Did Klopp Say About His Team’s Performance?
With eight games left, Liverpool moved nine points outside the top four in the Premier League. And Klopp was delighted with his team’s performance.
“Yeah, [he was] injured too long, same like Lucho [Diaz], and that’s obviously tricky. Diogo was involved in a lot of top, top moments, won the ball back and set up Mo’s first.
“Still, you can see there is space for improvement and he has some moments where you can see the rhythm maybe [is] not 100 per cent.

“The front three played tonight – and we could’ve had a completely different front three – the way they defended tonight, that was an important part of it, because they all can play football, but we need to understand it starts there.
“I think the counter-pressing mode was set by Curtis and Hendo, it was absolutely top how they chased pretty much everything on the pitch. That was super-important,” Klopp said in his post match conference as reported by Liverpool World
