Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to overhaul his squad at the end of the season and several players from his former club, Borussia Dortmund, and the Bundesliga in general have been linked with moves to Anfield.
Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze and Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan are two of the biggest names to have been tipped for a reunion with their former boss.
It’s also understood that FC Cologne left-back Jonas Hector is being monitored ahead of a possible summer switch.
But Klopp insists his focus is on more than just his native Germany when he considers possiblerecruits.
He told Sport1: “We will not not sign a player because he is German. That would be nonsense.
“We look not only in the Bundesliga. We are really global at the start, but it is much more important not where the player comes from, but that it is the right player for us.”
