Patrick Kluivert’s son Justin has followed in his famous father’s footsteps by signing a professional deal with Dutch giants Ajax.
A talented young forward who has come through the ranks with Ajax, Justin Kluivert has already been impressing in the club’s junior sides.
And the news the 16-year-old has singed on at the Amsterdam Arena on a professional contract was revealed by his father on Instagram.
It means Patrick Kluivert’s son has taken the first steps to emulating his father’s brilliant career at the highest level and if he gets anywhere near that, he’ll have done well.
Signing professional terms at 16 is an indicator of how highly the younger Kluivert is rated though with the left wing or centre forward having impressed the club’s academy coaches.
He scored a wonder goal for Ajax’s Under-16 side at the start of the year and has also turned out for his country’s Under-15 and Under-17 teams.
Kluivert junior has been with Ajax since the age of six and has always seemed destined to follow his father to the sport’s highest level.
A hugely promising attacking talent, Justin Kluivert is a real danger cutting in off the left wing and unleashing shots on goal.
Such is his promise that’s he’s already signed a sponsorship deal with sports giants Nike, penning the contract last year.
Born in 1999 when his father was playing for Spanish giants Barcelona, the younger Kluivert has grown up knowing one of his parents won almost everything football has to offer.
Not that such pressure has weighed on his shoulders.
Indeed, Justin Kluivert has seemed to enjoy the responsibility with his goalscoring exploits bringing him to the attention of not just those in Holland but also around the world.
The teenager has previously posted a picture of his father playing for Barcelona to his Instagram with the caption: ‘I have to keep the name big’, emphasising his desire to make it to the top.
Of course Justin Kluivert will still do well to emulate his dad’s achievements in his time in Holland.
Patrick made his senior Ajax debut aged just 18 and instantly endeared himself to the club’s fans by scoring on his debut.
He went on to become one of the side’s true greats, coming off the bench to score an 85th minute winner in the 1995 Champions League final as Louis van Gaal’s side ruled the European roost.
In his time with the club Patrick Kluivert scored 39 goals in 70 games before moving on to AC Milan and Barcelona among others as well as starring for his country.
