Disgraced former footballer Adam Johnson has been attacked in the showers at Moorland Prison after a confrontation with a fellow inmate.
It’s reported by the Mail that Johnson refused to remove hair from the plughole after a request from another prisoner, asking him ‘do you know who I am?’
This prompted an angry reaction from said inmate, which resulted in Johnson getting beaten up, leaving the former Sunderland winger looking shaken.
A source from inside the jail said that Johnson had been scrubbing showers the entire morning when a larger inmate approached him to do the even lesser task of getting rid of a big clump of hair from the drain.
The ex-Middlesbrough, Man City and Sunderland player is alleged to have told the man to ‘f**k off’ before asking him ‘do you know who I am?’. He got punched in the face for his troubles.
“One of the cons told him to clean his shower again,” said the source.
“Johnson ignored him and the other bloke really got in his face. Johnson then swore at him. The bloke punched him in the face and Johnson defended himself.”
Johnson was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually touching and grooming a girl under the age of 16.
Before he was jailed he was earning £60,000 a week in wages at Sunderland and living in his multimillion pound mansion. Now he is serving his time in one of Britain’s more modern prisons, which boasts a games room, a gym and an all-weather sports pitch.
