Kolbe returns for Springboks

South Africa have made one change to their starting XV for Saturday’s World Cup final against England with Cheslin Kolbe returning to the line-up. The right wing missed the 19-16 semi-final victory over Wales last weekend with an ankle knock, but he has sufficiently recovered to take his place in the team, replacing S’bu Nkosi, who drops out of the squad entirely. Indeed, that is the only change Rassie Erasmus has made to his 23-man line-up from the semi-final success, with the Springboks coach having been keen to have continuity within his team throughout the tournament – this is the third time he has named the same matchday squad in Japan. Captain Siya Kolisi will win his 50th cap during the match, becoming just the 37th Bok to ever reach the milestone, while he will also become the third player to lead out South Africa in the World Cup final, following in the footsteps of Francois Pienaar (1995) and John Smit (2007). Frans Steyn is the only member of the squad that was part of South Africa’s last World Cup success in 2007, with the centre set to take his place among the replacements on Saturday. South Africa have lost their last two meetings with England, the most recent of which came at Twickenham last November, but Saturday’s Test will be the first time the two teams have met at a World Cup since the 2007 final when the Boks won out 15-6.
