Kovac blasts Bayern attitude after Bochum scare

Niko Kovac blasted the attitude of his Bayern Munich players as they struggled to a 2-1 win against Bochum in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday night. The Bavarians were hot favourites heading into the clash against a Bochum side who sit near the foot of the Bundesliga 2 table, but it turned out to be a difficult night.
Bochum have not won at home since May, but an own goal by Alphonso Davies in the first half had them on the brink of going through.
Kovac was forced to bring the big guns off the bench, and only when Robert Lewandowski, Philippe Coutinho and Thomas Muller entered the game did thinks look up.
Serge Gnabry got the equaliser seven minutes from time, and after Armel Bella-Kotchap was sent off, Muller grabbed the winner.
However, there was little for Kovac to smile about after the game and he let rip into his players. He insisted it had nothing to do with tactics, but his side’s poor attitude and passing. “It was all wrong for 60, 70 minutes,” an unhappy Kovac said. “The fact that we played so many bad passes, in my opinion, has something to do with the attitude, it has nothing to do with tactics. It has to do with the attitude. There were too many players who played bad passes.”
Kovac also admitted the substitutions turned the game. “After Philippe Coutinho and Thomas Muller came on, things improved,” he added. “And in the end we got that little bit of luck against Bochum, who really played so well.”
