Barcelona has received a warning from Kylian Mbappe that he intends to take the stage in Wednesday’s first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.
Mbappe scored four goals against Barca in the two legs of the 2020–21 Champions League quarterfinals. He is aiming to win the Champions League this year before departing Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, with Real Madrid, Barca’s opponent, being his likely destination.

“It’s the time for great players,” Mbappe told Telefoot. “I am ready and, as always, I am not going to hide.
“Seeing the dynamic we have, I’m sure we’re going to give it our all, then the result… It’s in God’s hands. Like every year, we enter the crucial period of the season. At the end of April, we will already have elements to know what kind of season we will be able to have.”
Mbappe is feeling rejuvenated going into Wednesday’s match after being benched for PSG’s 1-1 draw with Clermont Foot on Sunday. In the last seconds, the Frenchman set up Goncalo Ramos to steal a point for Luis Enrique’s team.
The main task for Barcelona manager Xavi will be to stop Mbappe, but club vice-president Rafa Yuste recently stated that Barca have everything it takes to succeed.
“Barcelona can stop the attacks of Mbappe and PSG,” Yuste stated. “Though Mbappe is an excellent talent, we approach this as a team.
“Last season, our defense gave up very few goals. In both games, we must play with extreme seriousness and act in the best interests of the team.”
