Kylian Mbappé Prepares For Battle With Former Club Paris Saint-Germain

The French football league’s legal authority has urged Kylian Mbappe and his former club Paris Saint-Germain to settle their wage and bonus dispute through mediation, PSG announced on Wednesday.

PSG officials and Mbappe’s agents met in Paris after the French superstar requested that the commission become involved. Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, claims PSG owes him €55 million (about $60 million). The amount represents three months’ pay, a signing bonus, plus a “ethical bonus.”Reported by The telegraphic.

PSG expressed satisfaction with the two-hour hearing before the commission on Wednesday, but the plan was immediately rejected by the France international.

In a statement, PSG noted that Mbappe had previously made “clear, repeated public and private commitments that must be respected, having been afforded unprecedented benefits by the club over seven years in Paris.”

PSG has argued that they do not owe money to the World Cup winner under an agreement reached when Mbappe was sidelined ahead of the 2023-24 season due to his decision not to extend his contract with the club, with the player allegedly agreeing to waive bonuses upon his reintegration into the team.

PSG stated that the league’s legal commission suggested “mediation between the parties,” which the club had been pursuing for months.

A member of Mbappe’s team stated, “The possibility of a mediation was mentioned this morning (Wednesday).” The player’s representative rejected this notion during the meeting.

The saga now looks set to be resolved in a courtroom

During his final season at PSG, Mbappe’s relationship with the club came to an end due to profound conflicts.

PSG felt let down by Mbappe after offering him the most lucrative deal in the club’s history, which he signed in 2022. However, Mbappe was dissatisfied because he felt commitments to sign key players were not kept.

When he signed the new contract, he was paraded in front of fans, holding up a shirt with the year 2025 on it. Mbappe was reportedly angry since the contract was until 2024 with the potential for an additional year.
