Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne has revealed his delight after signing a new two-year deal with Glamorgan. Labuschagne forced his way back into Australia’s Test plans after some stunning performances in the County Championship for the Welsh county. He hit three centuries in his first four games for the Welsh side, including a career-best 182 against Sussex, while he became the first player in the country to score 1000 first-class runs in the 2019 campaign. After a positive summer with Australia, which saw them retain the Ashes, Labuschagne has decided to return to Sophia Gardens and admits their appointment of head coach Matthew Maynard was key. Labuschagne told Glamorgan’s official website: “I’m absolutely rapt to re-sign and come back to Cardiff for another two years. “There was a bit of interest (from other counties) but there wasn’t really much to consider, I loved my time with Glamorgan, I loved the coach and the system, and I really enjoyed working with the guys there. “Matt Maynard staying on for another three years is great, I loved working with him and I learned a lot from him as coach, so it’s exciting for me to sign up for another two years.”
