The sports director of Barcelona, Deco, has responded to reports that Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, would visit Camp Nou again in the summer.
Deco was a guest on Esport3’s Onze, and Mundo Deportivo’s broadcast on Thursday has statements from him. The La Liga team is presently led by Xavi Hernández, who has declared his intention to leave at the end of the current campaign.

This has sparked rumors that the manager of Manchester City and other contenders are linked to replace Xavi at Barcelona.
Between 2008 and 2012, Guardiola worked for the Catalan club for four years. In his first season, he won the triple crown. His present contract with the Etihad ends in2025, and he has recently discussed the prospect of signing a new contract at manchester city.
Deco has already ruled out appointing Barca reserve team coach Rafa Márquez as Xavi’s replacement. At the same time, Mundo claim the director has praised Guardiola, ‘without fuelling the dream’ of bringing him back to the club.
He’s an excellent coach. He led the most successful Barcelona team in history. Definitely. And he’s been winning ever since. “He’s the world’s greatest,” he exclaimed.
We have not spoken with any coaches. While the press’s inquiries are understandable, discussing a manager under contract betrays a lack of regard for us and other people.
Deco has praised Pep Guardiola while being careful not to agitate Manchester City just yet.
