Laliga Club Chief Responds To Liverpool ‘Final Stages’ Of Talks For Salah Replacement

Real Sociedad president, Jokin Aperribay has reportedly addressed rumours of Liverpool reaching the final stage of a £50 million agreement for Takefusa Kubo this summer.

Although the Reds have not added any new faces this summer, new manager Arne Slot is eager to make his mark on the team after Jurgen Klopp left.

Finding a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is expected to remain at Anfield this summer but might probably leave, is regarded as one of the top priorities.

Salah’s contract only lasts a year, and if the Saudi Pro League doesn’t entice him to leave this summer, he will undoubtedly go for nothing at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Furthermore, earlier this week, rumors from Japan stated that negotiations between Kubo’s representatives and Liverpool were nearing its “final stages”. And that the Reds were prepared to activate the winger’s £50 million release clause.

In Kubo’s home country of Japan, Sociedad are getting ready for a preseason friendly against Gamba Osaka. And according to Football 365, Aperribay stated that Liverpool and other interested parties had not contacted Sociedad.

“There is no issue. There are no negotiations with any club,” the Sociedad president told reporters on Wednesday.

“We are in the transfer market, anything can happen. But Take is very happy at Real and will stay. We love Kubo very much, we hope he stays at Real forever.”
