Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has hailed Manchester City after their comfortable 4-0 victory away at Basle in the Champions League.
Lampard, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012, believes the way Pep Guardiola prepares his side for matches is ‘second to none’.
Asked about City’s last-16 first leg win, he told BT Sport: ‘[It was] very comfortable. As it stands, this team has everything.
‘They have style on the ball, a lot of possession in the game, the desire to win the ball back, which takes energy and hard work, and the overall attitude to how they approach games at the minute that is second to none in probably world club football.’
A brace for Ilkay Gundogan and one goal each for Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne equalled City’s biggest win in Europe’s biggest club competition.
Gundogan’s two goals took him to four for the season. The 27-year-old says City won’t stop until they are successful in the four competitions they are competing in.
City are top of the Premier League by 16 points, in the League Cup final, play Wigan Athletic in the fifth round of the FA Cup and have all but sealed a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Gundogan added: ‘Honestly, we don’t think we have another choice [other than to keep performing]. We need to play the best football we are able to but we feel ready and if we perform like we did today and the other day we will be successful.’
