Lampard hits out at arrogant Liverpool for their over-the-top celebrations in Chelsea defeat

Frank Lampard was left fuming following the ‘arrogant’ celebrations of Liverpool’s players and staff after they defeated Chelsea 5-3 in their penultimate Premier League game of the season ahead of lifting the trophy.

Naby Keita, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Giorginio Wijnaldum set the hosts on their way before Olivier Giroud hit back then Roberto Firmino restored the lead, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sealed the win after Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic threatened a comeback.

The champions and their backroom staff had left Lampard annoyed with their behaviour on the bench during the game, and in the aftermath of the game Sadio Mane can be seen embracing the boss in an Instagram Live video.

Lampard told Sky Sports after the game: ‘I’ve got no problem with Jurgen Klopp, he has managed this team and it is fantastic.

‘Some of the bench, it is a fine line between when you are winning and they have won the league, fair play to Liverpool Football Club but also don’t get too arrogant with it.

‘In matchplay you get emotional and that is it.’

Lampard and Klopp can be seen to exchange words at several points throughout the game in what was a highly-charged affair, with the Anfied boss gesturing towards his rival s the fourth official attempts to come between the two managers.

Lampard’s Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with one game remaining of the season.

They are level on points with third-placed Manchester United and one point ahead of Leicester in fifth.

They most likely need to avoid defeat at home to Wolves on the final day – with Manchester United and Leicester playing each other – to seal Champions League football.
