An update has been provided by Everton manager Frank Lampard on Anthony Gordon’s future amid intense Chelsea interest.
Chelsea have had a long-term interest in the £60m rated player. However, Everton have insisted they do not want to sell him.
Lampard has also claimed that he wants Gordon to remain his player, but decided to leave the player on the bench in their Tuesday Carabao Cup match.
What Did Lampard Say?
Gordon’s absence from the starting lineup for Everton’s 1-0 Carabao Cup victory over Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night was justified by Lampard. According to reports, the forward is edging closer to a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
“Everyone knows there’s interest from Chelsea, it’s very public now, but he’s our player. It’s as simple as that,” Lampard told reporters.

“He was on the bench [because] he had a bit of an issue with his heel after the game against Forest. We kept him out of it completely unless he was absolutely needed tonight, I didn’t feel he was.”

When asked if he wanted the transfer situation to be resolved quickly, Lampard added: “Yeah, ideally, or carry on and he’s our player, so that’s what it is.”
The Toffees will travel to Brentford on Saturday for their next game. We’ll have to wait and see if Gordon will participate.
