Frank Lampard became the first Chelsea manager in club history to lose his first four games as Real Madrid shattered any fragile Champions League dreams at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
The Blues needed to overcome a 2-0 hole against the Galacticos and, despite dominating play in the first half, fell to another 2-0 defeat with a whimper.
However, things haven’t gone as planned thus far, as Lampard has already broken an unwelcome record,as reported to The Mirror.
Madrid forward Rodrygo stole the show with a brace for the Spanish giants, who will meet either Manchester City or Bayern Munich in the semi-finals next month.
After the meeting, statisticians quickly crunched the figures and turned their focus to interim Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
Since taking over as manager of his previous club on April 6, the ex-midfielder has watched his side lose to Wolves, Brighton, and Real Madrid twice in a terrible start to his second stint.
As a result, Lampard has become the first Chelsea manager in the club’s 118-year history to lose his first four games in command.
The arrival of Brentford on Wednesday, April 26 is Lampard’s next chance to turn things around, but Thomas Frank’s team will not go down easy as they seek their highest-ever Premier League finish.
Lampard stated after the humiliating defeat to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid: “Every game you play, you have to give everything.” I’ve barely been here for two weeks, therefore I’m starving.
