Even in 2024, women are still subjected to increasing amounts of online abuse just for being female. Consider Lauren Fryer, the mother of Declan Rice’s one-year-old baby Jude and his childhood sweetheart.
Last year, Fryer was the target of horrifying trolling that seemed to be prompted by a depraved tweet from someone using a phony X/Twitter account. Strangely, nobody seemed to find anything humorous about the comments.
Another troll stated more recently that it was bad that Declan Rice “chooses to be with an unfortunate woman like that” and that it was a “shame that Declan Rice has low standards”.
Fryer, who boasts over 60,000 followers, has since deleted all of her Instagram posts.
Since then, the offensive remarks have reappeared, and an increasing number of individuals have jumped to the young woman’s defense.
“Appreciation post for this beautiful woman Lauren Fryer,” wrote one fast-fashion business. We regret that in 2024, women are still the target of so many offensive remarks.”
Another said, “A beautiful woman, a couple in love, with a young family,” and continued, “They honestly worry about the mindset of some people.” There are people in this world who need to get real.”
“Humanity is rotting,” wrote a third, adding that Lauren Fryer shouldn’t have to deal with such abuse. She is a very amazing girl and someone who has done nothing wrong for any of you to abuse her in this manner.”
