Lazio Ready to Sign Former Arsenal Man From Marseille

Lazio have exchanged agreements with Olympique Marseille for former Arsenal star, Matteo Guendouzi, who is preparing to complete his move to the Italian capital.

The Biancocelesti have decided to recruit the 24-year-old Frenchman to a €1m loan contract with a €12m obligation to buy clause attached, as well as an additional €5m in add-ons, following several rounds of negotiations.

Marseille will also be in control of a 10% future resale clause.

Guendouzi and Lazio have already reached a personal agreement, and he is ready to sign a five-year deal worth approximately €2.5m net per season plus add-ons.

Fabrizio Romano states that Guendouzi will fly to Rome today to undertake his medical exams at the Paideia clinic in the Italian capital.

Upon completion of his medical, pending the success, he will sign his five-year deal with Lazio.

The 24-year-old Frenchman is a much-anticipated addition to Maurizio Sarri’s squad in Rome, adding a dynamic and hard-working option to the midfield.

He’ll become the club’s third midfield reinforcement following Daichi Kamada and Nicolo Rovella.

Guendouzi joined Arsenal from Lorient in the summer of 2018 and initially impressed under then-manager Unai Emery. He kept playing under Mikel Arteta after he took over but fell out of favour at the end of the 2019-20 season.

He made 82 total appearances for Arsenal, scoring once.
