LEAKED: England’s final 23-Man squad for Euro 2016 mistakenly posted online

Roy Hodgson is set to name his official 23-man England squad for Euro 2016 later this week, but somebody at the FA might be in a little bit of trouble after publishing what’s claimed to be the final 23 online – days prior to the announcement.

And my goodness does it contain some surprises. Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck – injured at Manchester City on Sunday – has been left out, while the highly debated Jack Wilshere appears to have been included in the 23 despite barely featuring for the Gunners this season.

That, though, is not the biggest shock – as (allegedly) Manchester United’s Luke Shaw is included in the list of 23 despite suffering a horrific leg break earlier in the season. Shaw was hoping to return for action for United prior to the end of the campaign but has thus far only managed to return to training.

The reported inclusion of Shaw has somewhat crazily come over Tottenham’s Danny Rose, who according to the leak has only found himself on the standby list. His teammate Kyle Walker isn’t included in the 23 either.

Danny Drinkwater finds himself included while teammate Jamie Vardy also takes his place up front, alongside Premier League top scorer Harry Kane. Marc Albrighton, Mark Noble, Andy Carroll and Jermain Defoe however have made it on to the standby list – though the legitimacy of the roster is questionable at best.

PFA Young Player of the Year Dele Alli, Manchester United’s Chris Smalling and captain Wayne Rooney, plus the likes of Joe Hart, John Stones and Daniel Sturridge are included as expected – while Jordan Henderson, recently injured and deemed doubtful – also finds his name on the list.

Yes, we’ll have to take this one with a pinch of salt, but it may be an insight into the final 23 Hodgson will be naming on Thursday.

Rumoured England Squad for Euro 2016: Joe Hart, Tom Heaton, Fraser Forster; Ryan Bertrand, Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Clyne, Phil Jagielka, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, John Stones; Dele Alli, Ross Barkley, Eric Dier, Danny Drinkwater, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Raheem Sterling, Jack Wilshere; Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy.

Rumoured Stand-By List: John Ruddy, Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Marc Albrighton, Fabian Delph, Mark Noble, Andy Carroll, Jermain Defoe.
