Lecce defender Samuel Umtiti was left emotional after Lazio fans chanted racist abuse at him in yesterday’s 2-1 win.
The Puglian team trailed the Biancocelesti after Ciro Immobile’s opening goal in yesterday’s match, but they stormed back to win all three points in front of their home crowd in the second half.
It wasn’t entirely a positive evening for Lecce, however, as Umtiti and Banda were both reportedly subject to racist chants coming from a section of the Lazio supporters during the first half of the match.
This forced the stadium announcer to warn that further abuse would lead to a suspension of the match.
The 2018 World Cup winner was visibly emotional after the chants and Banda was equally shaken.
