Liverpool legend, Steve Nicol reckons the club should make a second attempt to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion. After realizing Declan Rice is leaving for another club.
Following the activation of the release clause in his Brighton contract, the Reds finalized the signing of Alexis Mac Allister earlier this month.
It’s expected that Jurgen Klopp would bring in at least two midfielders this summer. Starting with the World Cup winner.
Nicol was disappointed his former club haven’t added Rice to their midfield transfer targets as he wanted the player at the club. He has however advised Klopp to target Brighton’s Caicedo in his stead.
“I would have liked Declan Rice to go to Liverpool,” Nicol told ESPN. “But that’s not happening.
“So, I have gone with Caicedo. He actually disrupts the opposition. Gets the ball back. But he can play a little bit as well.
“Liverpool, at their best, under Klopp have had three players in the middle of the park that have done that. They have got the ball back and supplied the front three, regardless of what three it will be next season.

“So, if I can’t get Declan Rice, then I would like this guy in the middle of the park for Liverpool, alongside Mac Allister.”
The clubs reportedly spearheading the hunt for Caicedo are Chelsea and, as of late, Manchester United. According to reports, Brighton value the 21-year-old at roughly £80 million. Which like Rice and Jude Bellingham, who joined Real Madrid, might price him out of any potential transfer to Liverpool.
