Lennon not impressed by Arsenal new boy Xhaka, compares him to Charlie Adam

Hibernian boss Neil Lennon hasn’t been overly impressed with Granit Xhaka during the Euros.

The midfielder, who last month joined Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach, had been built up as Switzerland’s best player ahead of the tournament.

But the 23-year-old hasn’t lived up to former Bolton boss Lennons’ expectations.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, he said: “I’ve not been that impressed. He [Xhaka] is alright. He reminds me of Charlie Adam.”

Unsurprisingly, Lennon’s comments provoked a backlash on Twitter, with Arsenal supporters laying into the 44-year-old ex-Celtic star.

“Neil lennon comparing xhaka to charlie adam. I am done,” wrote user @ArsenalHobbo.

@FutbolFan5 added: “GOd help us Neil Lennon comparing Xhaka to Charlie Adams #s hutthef***up.”
