Robert Lewandowski has expressed his desire to leave Bayern Munich this summer, claiming that his “story” at the club has come to an end.
Lewandowski said at the end of the Bundesliga season that he wants to leave the club, amid speculations that Barcelona is interested in signing him.
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer insisted that he will not be allowed to leave before his contract expires in summer 2023, but he has urged them to do so.
What Has Lewandowski Said About Bayern?
“My story at Bayern Munich is over,” the Poland international said during a press conference. After everything that has happened in the last few months, I can’t see us cooperating in the future.
“Bayern is a serious club, and I hope they don’t keep me only to keep me.” A transfer is the best option for all involved.”
What Was Bayern Munich’s Response?
“I have no idea why Robert chose this way,” CEO Oliver Khan stated. “Public statements like these aren’t helpful to anyone involved.”
“Robert has won the award for best footballer of the year two years in a row, so he should understand how important Bayern is to him.” It’s not a one-way street when it comes to appreciation.”
What Will Lewandowski’s Next Move Be?
Barcelona are the frontrunners to sign the striker, who scored 50 goals in 46 games in all competitions this season.
Xavi confirmed that talks with the 33-year-agent old’s agent have taken place, but emphasized that a transfer will be tough to achieve.
The club’s financial problems could be the biggest stumbling point, with La Liga president Javier Tebas claiming the team cannot afford to sign him.
Chelsea are reportedly monitoring his situation and could make an approach, according to GOAL. Catalan side aren’t the only ones interested.
