Match of the Day presenter and former Leicester City forward Gary Lineker has urged star striker Jamie Vardy to snub Arsenal’s advances in order to stay with the Premier League champions.
On Friday evening, it was reported by the Guardian that the Gunners had triggered Vardy’s release clause and were ready to bring him to the Emirates. Furthermore, the Mirror say that Leicester’s number nine could be prepared to leave the Foxes, should Arsenal offer him a four-year contract worth £120,000-a-week.
And with supporters across the globe now talking about the potential transfer, Lineker, who scored 95 goals for Leicester during 1978 and 1985, has pleaded for the striker to remain.
Lineker wrote on Twitter:
Stay with the Champions @vardy7 don't join the perennial also-rans. https://t.co/Yssd7IiuOS

Vardy, 29, had a stunning season as Leicester won the Premier League by 10 points. The England international scored 24 league goals and registered a shot accuracy of 57%.
Furthermore, the Foxes’ number line was also a creative force. Vardy created 46 chances, which was the third highest in the Leicester squad behind Marc Albrighton (62) and Riyad Mahrez (67). The 29-year-old registered six assists too.
However, many supporters are surprised that Arsenal have moved for Vardy as he doesn’t appear to be an Arsene Wenger type signing.
The Gunners boss usually doesn’t spend big on players above the age of 26, while Wenger was adamant that he wanted to bring in a world class forward rather than another striker who’s on a similar level to Olivier Giroud.
