Lionel Messi Surpasses Gonzalo Higuaín For Inter Miami Record

Lionel Messi made history yet again on MLS Matchday 7.

With his equalizing goal in a 1-1 tie with Toronto FC, Inter Miami CF’s captain overtook Gonzalo Higuain in terms of goal contributions in club history.

The famous forward now has 44 goal contributions in 29 regular-season games, including 24 goals and 20 assists for the Herons. Lionel Messi created history yet again on MLS Matchday 7.

Since arriving in South Florida in the summer of 2023, the former FC Barcelona player has produced some of the league’s most overpowering performances. Reported on X.

After helping the Herons to the Leagues Cup in his debut season, messi was critical to Miami’s 2024 Supporters’ Shield victory, in which they set a single-season points record. Messi also won the Landon Donovan MLS MVP award, scoring an incredible 20 goals and 16 assists in just 19 appearances.

Messi broke Higuaín’s club record by scoring his third goal of the season on Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire. It took Higuaín 67 appearances to reach that point, and Messi is only five goals away from tying it.
