Liverpool accept Bournemouth’s £15m bid for Jordon Ibe

Liverpool have given Jordon Ibe permission to talk to Bournemouth after accepting a £15m offer from their Premier League rivals.

The 20-year-old has made 58 appearances for Liverpool since moving from Wycombe Wanderers in 2012.

Ibe has struggled to secure a first team place at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp and has now been given permission to speak to the Cherries after the two clubs agreed a fee on Thursday.

Watford and Southampton had also shown interest in the 20-year-old but are understood to have been put off by Liverpool’s asking price.

After joining from Wycombe Wanderers, Ibe broke into the Reds first team two seasons ago following successful loan spells at Birmingham City and Derby County.

The winger was tipped to replace Raheem Sterling, who left the club to join Manchester City, but has since struggled to secure a regular place under Klopp – making just 12 Premier League starts last season.

Ibe’s chances of first team football were struck a further blow following the arrival of new signing Saido Mane and the return to fitness of Danny Ings.

Ibe is keen to secure regular first team football next season and could be tempted to work under Eddie Howe at Dean Court.

The Bournemouth manager is searching for a replacement for Matt Ritchie, who joined Championship club Newcastle in a £12m deal earlier this month.

And after agreeing a transfer fee, Liverpool have now allowed the winger to discuss personal terms with the south coast club.

Due to a sell-on clause, it is understood Wycombe would receive 15 percent of any fee the Reds receive for Ibe.
