Liverpool are interested in signing Southampton’s goalkeeper Alex McCarthy at the end of the season.
According to the Mirror, they will compete with Newcastle United for the experienced goalkeeper.

Liverpool need to sign a competent backup goalkeeper at the conclusion of the season, especially because Caoimhin Kelleher is anticipated to depart the club. The Republic of Ireland international has been a great squad player for Liverpool, producing impressive performances in cup games and when injured.
However, he is 25 years old and needs to play on a regular basis to reach his full potential. With Alisson Becker at the club, Kelleher is unlikely to have many first-team opportunities, therefore it makes sense for him to move on and join another club this summer.
Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher is looking to play more regular first team football while Newcastle want to bring in Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale – though recognise he could prove expensive – and they have question marks over Martin Dubravka and Loris Karius.
McCarthy has Premier League experience with Reading, QPR, Crystal Palace and Southampton and is looking to make a return to top flight football while Celtic would provide a broader challenge with European football also.
