Liverpool and Arne Slot are apparently looking to sign a Serie A player that former boss Jurgen Klopp wanted during his stint.
Liverpool’s main issue heading into the current season was remained the base of their midfield. After failing to sign Martin Zubimendi, Slot was forced to get inventive and devise an immediate internal remedy. So Ryan Gravenberch stepped in. Under Klopp, the Dutchman was frequently left to compete for a spot on the bench before being promoted to a more advanced role, but his battles are now forgotten owing to Slot’s creativity.

Gravenberch, who has returned to defensive midfield, has been one of the Premier League’s best players this season and has been a great revelation for Liverpool in terms of resolving their problem. With their defensive midfield difficulties resolved, the Reds can now focus their efforts on finally completing Slot’s side’s centre in 2025.
According to Graeme Bailey of The Boot Room, Slot and Liverpool are now considering a bid to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, but will face competition from Tottenham Hotspur to sign a player Klopp reportedly wanted to buy during his time at Anfield last year.
The Reds may finally land their long-term aim and complete their midfield next year. A fellow Dutchman, Reijnders and Gravenberch might establish an excellent relationship for club and country if the former moves to Anfield within the next year.
Having only joined AC Milan in the summer of 2024, it remains to be seen whether the Serie A club will let their midfielder to go so soon after signing.
