Liverpool & Arsenal Eyeing Ambitious Swoop To Sign Pedri

Liverpool and Arsenal are apparently considering an ambitious move to recruit Barcelona star Pedri, according to Spanish source Marca.

Despite rebuilding their engine room last summer, the Reds appear to be trying to add additional firepower to this position ahead of next season, as they have been linked with a few names recently. Teun Koopmeiners has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, but Pedri is emerging as a viable possibility.

It was previously rumored that the Blaugrana were interested in keeping the 21-year-old beyond this season, but according to Marca (via TEAMtalk), given the youngster’s recent injury history, Barcelona are willing to cash in on him.

The article also claims that cashing in on Pedri will generate big money for the Catalan giants and that would help them sign some new players in the off-season.

According to the Spanish newspaper, Arsenal has expressed an interest in signing the former Las Palmas player by capitalizing on the scenario, although Liverpool is presently displaying the most serious interest in purchasing him.

According to Marca, Barcelona formerly valued Pedri at roughly £68 million, but they may potentially sell their star player if they receive an offer of around £51 million. As a result, Arsenal or Liverpool would be able to get him for a cheap price this summer.

It has been widely reported that the Gunners are looking to strengthen their engine room by signing a new midfielder this summer. Numerous names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the forthcoming window, with Pedri emerging as a major contender.

The Barcelona star is a tremendously skilled player who has already demonstrated his abilities at the highest level at a young age. So, he would be a fantastic acquisition for Arsenal or Liverpool if either club purchase him.

However, Pedri’s playing style is more suited to play in Mikel Arteta’s system so the Spain international would be better off joining the North London club over the Merseyside club if he eventually leaves Barcelona at the end of this season.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal or Liverpool opt to make a concrete approach to sign Pedri this summer to reinforce their midfield department.
