Liverpool ‘Begin Talks’ With Alexis Mac Allister – Brighton Exit “100%” Likely

Liverpool are claimed to be “stepping up” their chase of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who is “100 percent” certain to leave this summer.

Mac Allister has long been rumored as a Liverpool target, but earlier this week, top-tier source Paul Joyce of The Times revealed that he was “high on the list.”

This comes ahead of a summer in which James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur’s contracts will all expire.

Carlos Allister, Mac Allister’s father and agent, stated in April that his son would be “playing for another team” next season, having initiated “talks in April.”

The Guardian and the Mail are now reporting that Liverpool are making headway in their pursuit of the 24-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian, the club has provided “details of their financial proposal and project” to Mac Allister.

While Romano claims that “no agreement” has been reached at this point, the Mail’s Jack Gaughan and Dominic Hogan describe Liverpool as “front-runners.”

They even claim that Mac Allister’s teammates think he’s “destined for Anfield.”

“Sources at the Amex Stadium claimed that the squad openly discussed the possibility of Mac Allister joining Liverpool in the coming months,” the article continues.

A departure from the south coast is expected in either May or June, which fits nicely with Jurgen Klopp’s quest for additions as quickly as feasible.

Mac Allister has 10 goals and two assists in 33 games for Brighton this season, and he started all but one of Argentina’s World Cup games in December.

He only joined the Seagulls from Argentinos Juniors in 2019, for an undisclosed fee of roughly £7 million; now, Brighton are reportedly seeking £70 million.
