Andy Robertson has claimed that Jamie Carragher has been subjected to some friendly ribbing in the Liverpool dressing room this week, following his criticism of Mohamed Salah.
The Scot revealed this during a light-hearted conversation with Carragher following Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League triumph over Real Madrid on Wednesday evening. Earlier this week, Carragher, 46, chastised Salah for being “selfish” after voicing his dismay that Liverpool had yet to formally offer him a new deal.
Salah, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, said he was “more out than in” after disclosing that no offers were currently on the table following the Reds’ 3-2 victory against Southampton on Sunday. It is thought that the Egyptian wants to continue at Anfield, and talks with his agent, Ramy Abbas, are underway. However, no deal has been reached yet.

Nonetheless, Carragher, who voiced his desire to see Salah, 32, extend his stay, was dissatisfied with the timing of the comments. Speaking to Sky Sports, he stated, “I must say I am really upset with Salah. In his seven years at the football club, he has only stopped in the mixed zone to speak with media twice.
“Which is his right and perfectly acceptable. However, he chose to halt for the third time away at Southampton after defeating Liverpool and releasing the results.
“The most important thing for Liverpool this season isn’t Salah’s future. It’s not the future of Virgil van Dijk or Trent Alexander-Arnold. The most important thing is that Liverpool win the Premier League, which is more significant than any of those individuals.
“If he continues to make statements or his representative continues to send out cryptic tweets, that is selfish. That is thinking for themselves rather than the football club.
