Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly keen on Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder, Florian Wirtz.
According to a report from HITC as cited by Caught Offside, both clubs are believed to be in contact with the player’s representatives and may try to make an offer for him at the end of the season.
In the long run, the 20-year-old midfielder may prove to be a vital member of either of the two English teams. As he is currently considered one of the best prospects in European football.
He is the kind of attacking midfielder that Liverpool could really use, as he is also able to operate in wide areas. The 20-year-old will bolster Liverpool’s attack with goals and creativity. This season, he has 17 assists and 10 goals in all competitions.
It is unclear if Liverpool are willing to pay a high price for the midfielder, who is expected to command a high price tag in the summer transfer window.
City are also keeping tabs on his circumstances in the interim. But the Premier League giants already have players like Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Phil Foden at their disposal.
Given their similar skill sets, it is unclear if the treble winners are ready to pay more for the German.
If Wirtz receives a solid offer, he might be persuaded to join the Premier League.

Additionally, the Reds have been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen boss, Xabi Alonso. They may have an advantage in the competition to sign Wirtz if they choose to name the Spaniard as manager in the summer.
