There’s fears Liverpool defender Joe Gomez could miss the remainder of the season due to knee injury.
The Mirror says Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp already has concerns that Gomez’s knee injury suffered while on England duty is serious and could also lead to him missing the Euros next summer.
That would be a devastating blow for Liverpool who are already without Virgil van Dijk for the rest of the season meaning Joel Matip is their only remaining fit senior centre half which is a serious setback to their hopes of retaining the title.
Gomez sustained the injury in training on Wednesday, there were no other players around him and he just collapsed amid screams of “pain and distress” before he returned to Liverpool to have scans on his knee and to ascertain the level of damage.
Gomez missed the 2018 World Cup through injury and the worry is it could be a similar knee problem to the cruciate ligament suffered five years ago which kept him out long term.
