Liverpool are faced with a big conundrum as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold approach the final year of their contract.
Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield to record their best start to a season. With the victory, they regained their top spot in the league and increased their record to 10 out of 11 across all competitions under new manager Arne Slot, making him the second fastest manager in the Premier League to reach ten victories.
With less than a year left on the contracts of the Reds’ top three players; Alexander-Arnold, Salah, and Van Dijk, the club have put themselves in a position where there is a genuine chance that they will win the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League. Even though it is unlikely, and lose these key players for nothing.
ESPN reported that it is less likely that all three players will sign contracts with new clubs before the end of the current season. However, they will all be able to negotiate with teams outside of England on January 1.
Liverpool’s hierarchy are reportedly working round the clock to solve the contractual issues of these players, who have been at the center of the club’s success in recent years.
