After this season, Jürgen Klopp has officially declared his intention to quit Liverpool, and the Reds have already been connected to a number of contenders, including Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen.
Journalist Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato revealed last week that the Spaniard is aware of the Merseyside club’s interest in him. Aouna went so far as to say that Thomas Tuchel’s replacement is someone Bayern Munich wants to choose.

Bayern announced earlier today that Tuchel will retire at the end of current campaign. Once more, Santi Aouna used X—the platform that was formerly known as Twitter—to give an update on Liverpool and the Bavarian team.
Alonso is still on top of the list at these two clubs, and the journalist states Liverpool have already made the first approach.
The 42-year-old had spells with both the Premier League side and Bayern during his playing career, and is now ‘keen on a move to England’.
Aouna further adds Liverpool are ‘ready to send a bid’ to the Bundesliga side in the ‘next weeks’.
Leverkusen have excelled under Alonso’s orders this season as they are unbeaten in the league so far, and are on top of the table, eight points ahead of second placed Bayern.
