Arne Slot’s Liverpool, who are cruising to the Premier League summit, have been warned by ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett about a points deduction following the Dutch tactician’s heated rant after their 2-2 draw with Everton.
James Tarkowski broke Liverpool’s hearts in the closing stages of the final all-Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, and Slot, enraged by Michael Oliver’s officiating, slammed the referee and received a red card for his troubles.
In the aftermath, it was discovered that Slot, who has won 20 of his first 28 matches in charge of Liverpool since replacing the much-loved Jurgen Klopp, will serve a two-match ban for his sending-off, which only relates to domestic football.

According to the FA‘s written statement explaining why the Liverpool manager was banned, he allegedly informed Oliver that he had been biased towards Everton by claiming he had “f*****g give them everything,” before going on to declare that “if we don’t win the league, I’ll f*****g blame you.”
Slot, regarded as one of the top managers in the world, is also said to have spoken with Oliver to inquire about his satisfaction with his performance, as the referee was accused of making questionable decisions that benefited David Moyes’ team.
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Fabian Hurzeler, one of the Premier League’s youngest managers, and Nuno Espirito Santo, like Slot, were fired this season after clashing in September.
In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, Hackett, who worked as a referee between 1975 and 1994, believes that the potential of subsequent points deductions could deter additional clashes between managers and officials.
