Darwin Nunez may be a concern for Liverpool as they prepare to play in the Premier League again this weekend. This is after Uruguay boss Marcelo Bielsa stated the attacker had “some muscle problems” when reporting for international duty for his country.
After his outstanding performance against Chile on Saturday, in which he recorded two assists, the 24-year-old was given a second consecutive start for Uruguay on Tuesday night.
However, despite the game being closely balanced at 1-1 at half time in Celeste World Cup qualifier yesterday.
Bielsa, the South American giants’ new manager, clarified in his post-match news conference that he believed it was “necessary” to replace the Liverpool attacker. Because he was “limited” after reportedly experiencing minor “muscle problems” prior to reporting for international duty.

“Darwin arrived with some muscle problems and it limited his game,” said Bielsa after the 2-1 defeat to Ecuador. “I thought it was necessary to replace him because he was overworked after the last match.”
Nunez has appeared in each of Liverpool’s four Premier League contests this season.

After his game-winning cameo against Newcastle United the week before the international break, he was given his first start of the season against Aston Villa.
The Uruguayan will now travel back to Merseyside to meet the rest of his teammates. He can then be evaluated on his fitness ahead of Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
